Emphasis Will Be Given

Emphasis Will Be Given is a powerful prayer for humility. I’m praying this today, and you can pray this Scripture-based prayer with me.

Today’s post is the seventh one in the #write28days challenge, in which I’m participating during the month of February 2021. The prompt for today is “Emphasis,” and here is my prayer/poem.

Emphasis Will Be Given

Father God,

In your kingdom

emphasis will be given

in a reverse order

from what the world

deems important.

You promise rewards

for the least of these:

children

widows

outcasts

lepers

prisoners

rejected

starved

tortured

persecuted

and to anyone

willing to take up their cross

and follow you.

You will emphasize

those who take the last seat

turn their cheek

give another cloak

walk an extra mile

refuse to pass by

bandage up wounds

pay the hotel bill

donate their last two mites

pray without ceasing

and offer themselves as living sacrifices.

When your kingdom is restored

in heaven and on earth

we will see so many

who have been hidden in the ages

so many in white robes

who were once

greatly afflicted.

Those who gained no emphasis

due to lack of status

power

wealth

health

beauty

intellect

or resources.

Those who worshiped you in truth

trusted in your promises

advanced your kingdom

and hoped for your return.

Father God, may your emphasis be given

to me, as I seek you in humility

laying down my pride

counting my blessings

sharing my resources

giving my time

praying faithfully

and never giving up hope.

May your kingdom vision

be mine.

May I seek to serve

like you

King Jesus

for the joy set before you.

May I see the blessing

hidden in humility.
