March 2026 Christian Book Picks

I chose these books as my top picks because they had the most meaningful impact on my mind and heart. I hope my shares about them inspire you to read them yourself.

The Trojan Horse of the Digital Age

I cannot state this strongly enough – this is a must-read book for all Christians right now in early 2026. It is a biblically based model for how to understand and engage with AI, which affects all of us now and will continue to grow in its effects on our lives. This is a wise, informative book without being paranoid. It taught me new things of which to be concerned, far beyond just Chat-GPT. It speaks about the great good that AI can do but also the horrible destruction it can create, much like fire.

The book has practical tips for parents and church leaders. It also has a discussion guide for groups, which I highly recommend forming to process these ideas. The book has a helpful glossary and resource guide as well. I suggest you order a copy for your personal library as well as a copy for your church, and at least one more for a friend.

The King Is Coming

This is a fascinating read that moved me deeply. It makes a strong case for Jesus’ return within the next hundred years, which should give us urgency in our personal faith and evangelism. John Bevere paints gruesomely vivid pictures of Jesus’ suffering and death, in order to show how powerful God’s love is, and how it must be foundational for us to face what’s ahead. John writes from a pre-millennial perspective, and I think he does a good job supporting that view while remaining humble.

Probably the most riveting portion of the book is what he learned from Brazilian pastors – how eschatology can be an enormously motivating force in the church, and how untapped this is in the American church. This book will most certainly make the top picks of my 2026 reads list. I plan to recommend it not only to my pastors, but also to every person I know who needs to have their eyes opened before it’s too late.

Moms of the Bible

This is an insightful new book to teach you new things about moms in the Bible, and how their lives can inspire us to be better moms. It is full of interesting biblical and contemporary stories that are engaging and enlightening. For example, I enjoyed learning about Esther’s influence as a stepmother, which I’ve never considered before. I appreciate the varied lessons from moms divided into three categories: fearless, flawed, and faithful. We learn from the positive examples as well as the negative examples in this book.

Sacred Refuge

This is an encouraging book with many extra resources that you can use for deeper individual study or group study. The author shares candidly from her own experiences, and she also brings in several vulnerable stories from other women. These stories make the chapters come alive. Each chapter has a section written as if God was talking to you directly, which helps you apply the material. It’s a well-written, thorough book that is full of comfort and practical encouragement for the hard times in life.

Exposing Emotional Manipulation

This book gives a charismatic glimpse into relationship problems to avoid, plus ways to strengthen your relationships. I appreciated the unique angles and insights. The sections I liked most dealt with breaking soul ties and decreeing biblical truths. I learned new things from this book that will help me in several situations.

Making Friends with Darkness

This is an excellent book for processing trauma. Nick Hamilton writes from the perspective as a seasoned military chaplain, so he speaks with authority. Yet his tone is tender and compassionate, and his advice is affirming and practical. He leans into several psalms to validate hard feelings we experience with PTSD and trauma, and he shows that God invites us to share our darkest moments and most difficult questions freely with him. It’s a great book not just for members of the military, but anyone dealing with tough losses and hard questions for God.

Now You Can Stop Running

I’m currently reading this book, and I’m finding profound truths in it. Pastor Terry Crist shares unique and insightful perspectives on biblical characters who were running from fear, trauma, anxiety, and more. He also shares some of his personal stories and how we can apply biblical truths to our lives. I am enjoying the deep dive into familiar Bible passages with fresh applications I haven’t considered before.

God Meets Us in Our Suffering

This book is written by three authors and pastor friends who experienced cancer at different stages of life. Over and over, they say this book isn’t about cancer – but it would be extremely helpful for someone facing a new cancer diagnosis. The best part about the book is the humor which is woven throughout the pages. It handles the tough and gross situations with laughter, which is a great perspective that could truly lift others up in their struggles. It would make an excellent gift for someone struggling with cancer – whether they are suffering themselves with the disease, or are suffering alongside a loved one with cancer.

Joseph

This is an excellent book that examines the chapters of Joseph’s life, from boyhood to adulthood. It gives many insights I had not previously considered, and I highlighted many passages. The author does a great job of thoroughly examining the biblical texts while adding in interesting quotes and personal stories. He also quotes hymns and shares thought-provoking questions. This is a good book for individual or group study.

This Hallelujah Banquet

This is an absolutely wonderful book about the five churches in Revelation. It’s insightful and meaningful even 40 years after Eugene Peterson preached the original sermons. I gained new knowledge about familiar passages, and I appreciated the deep meanings delivered in his signature warm, winsome style. It’s a great read for the Lenten season or any other time of the year.

Milk and Honey for a Woman’s Soul

This is a beautifully designed book that is full of encouragement. It uses the TLB and VOICE versions, which I found to be refreshing. As the book progresses, the devotions deal with harder realities, and I like that approach. They encourage you to be diligent in obedience to experience more of God’s peace. It frequently talks about God’s promises and eternal rewards. The brief devotions are perfect for quick pauses in your day. This book would make a great gift for a woman who needs uplifting support.

Fully Beloved

This is an excellent book on how connecting to each member of the Trinity helps you heal from trauma and heartache. The author shares his shocking story with tenderness. He also shares many interesting quotes from diverse authors, particularly St. Augustine and Julian of Norwich. I appreciated the way he wove all these stories in with biblical accounts to make his points. The book is affirming as well as edifying and uplifting. I can see it making a good discussion book for a book club or small group study, if these groups gravitate toward brainy reads. It’s also good for individuals.
