June and July 2026 Christian Book Picks
So far, I’ve read 158 books in 2026. I chose the books below as my top picks for June and July because they had the most meaningful impact on my mind and heart. May my shares about them inspire you to read them yourself.

I Don’t Have to Hold It All Together
This book is filled with wisdom that will help you stay calmer when you feel anxious. It has fascinating facts about how your mind and body is designed by God, and practical ways you can choose peace over anxiety. I appreciated her personal stories and the honest, comforting tone she used throughout the book. The section on expanding your capacity for goodness has been especially helpful for me.

The Way of the Desert Elders
This is an insightful book about the desert elders of the second and third centuries, and how their practices are relevant to us today. The author walks us through the seven deadly sins that desert elders faced which are all prevalent in today’s world as well. She gives practical and spiritual guidance on how to overcome these temptations by pursuing opposite virtues. I highlighted many quotes and I am pondering several ideas, especially the discussion about acedia.

God of Comfort
This is a great follow-up book to Lisa’s first book on grief. She has so many good affirmations of the feelings you experience in grief that you may be afraid to share with others or even admit to yourself. Through her personal stories and Bible passages, Lisa shows you how God is with you in your struggles, and deeper faith is possible even when you are grieving. It would make a thoughtful gift to someone going through a valley of grief.

You Are a Cursebreaker
From time to time I read books from a charismatic perspective to gain deeper spiritual knowledge. This book opened my eyes to new truths I had not yet considered. As a generational chain breaker in my family, I was drawn to the book’s title. The content was riveting and compelling. I now feel better equipped to pray against the spiritual forces in my family line as well as my physical location. It is a powerful book with personal stories that will help you know you are not alone in your fight, and strengthen you in your spiritual battles.

1776
One of the best books I’ve read this year. I only wish I had read it sooner. It clearly shows how courageous and grit-filled our founding fathers were, along with the American army. It shows how faith was integral to our country’s creation and how God’s hand moved the weather time and time again for the benefit of the American soldiers. It’s a fascinating look at how our ancestors fought through countless hardships for the “Glorious Cause” that meant so much to them. Inspiring and thoughtful. Though this is not an explicitly Christian nonfiction book, it most certainly has stories of faith and overt Christian themes based on historical accounts.

Names of God: Growing Strong
I was pleased to lead the book launch for this book, as I have for two other books that Grace wrote. Learn more about my book launch services HERE.
I have enjoyed the wisdom and insight Grace Fox has shared in her other books, and this newest book does not disappoint. It has a beautiful, thoughtful layout like the other two books in the series, which adds to its appeal. I like how Grace wove in personal stories from her life and stories of others to show how the Bible truths have made a difference to them and can do so for the reader as well. It’s always a delight to read Grace’s books, and I enjoyed this one as much as the others I have read.

This Moment Matters
This is a beautiful book about being intentional in every area of life. It’s like a lovely escape into your favorite magazine because the photos are mesmerizing. I like the practical ideas for creativity and the faith-based encouragement on every page. It’s another great book from Ruth, who can always be counted on for top quality content.

In Season
I was pleased to lead the book launch for this book, as I have for another book that Elizabeth wrote. Learn more about my book launch services HERE.
This is an ideal devotional for high school student athletes. The author truly knows what she is talking about as a former athlete, wife of a former athlete, and mother to several young athletes. The devotional is organized into 12 weeks of content, and a story about an athlete is the feature of each one. This story will be highly relevant to the girl reading the book, and she will appreciate how it carries through the devotions. The devotions themselves are short but meaty, which is perfect for busy student athletes. There is ample space to jot down thoughts after each devotion. This would make a great team study for a coach to lead. It’s a creative way to minister to the unique needs of young student athletes.

Kinda Judgy
I’m currently reading this book, and it’s stepping on my toes in the most needed ways. As an INFJ on the Myers-Briggs scale, the J stands for Judge, so I actively work to control my judgmental tendencies. This book is opening my eyes to new truths based on the story of Noah in the Old Testament. It’s a well-written read that will help you grow in spiritual maturity.

A Mess of Dreams
I truly enjoyed this World War II-era story about a Midwestern family who hired German prisoners to work on their farm. It gives realistic details of how a teenage girl dealt with the judgment against her family, worked through a past trauma, and opened her heart to romance. I enjoyed all the characters in the story, not only the protagonist. What I especially liked is that the book has a preview of the next book in the series, so it’s great that this storyline will continue in the future. This is an excellent clean read of historical fiction.
