The Remedy for a Weary Soul

The Remedy for a Weary Soul is an unedited prayer-poem I wrote in just five minutes. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.

Today’s post is based on the prompt for Five Minute Friday. Today’s prompt is “Remedy,” and here is my prayer/poem.

The Remedy for a Weary Soul

O God,

I come to you

with a weary soul today

harried by storms

within and without.

Before I collapse

at the end of the road

I remember your words:

come to me

all who are weary

and I will give you

rest.

Here in my bed

I climb into your lap

O Father

thrashing and sobbing

like an overtired toddler

throwing a tantrum

and you still me

with your strong embrace.

Turning to my side

I pour out

my frustrations

fears

doubts

heartache

and you hold me

Jesus

your left hand under

my head

your right hand

embracing me.

With your help

O Spirit

I can see the light

peeking through

the curtain

the dawn of a new day

on the horizon

fulfilling your promise:

weeping may last

for a night

but joy comes in the morning

for my weary soul.

In your presence alone

I find my remedy.

Scripture references in order: Matt. 11:28, Ps. 131:2, Song of Songs 8:3, Ps. 30:5
