Better Than Serendipity

Better Than Serendipity is a prayer of praise for God’s sovereignty. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.

Today’s post is the sixteenth one in the #write28days challenge, in which I’m participating during the month of February 2021. Today’s prompt is “Serendipity,” and here is my prayer/poem.

Better Than Serendipity

Father God,

Better than happy

things coming together

by chance,

you work all things together

for my good.

Much better than a warm breeze

ocean waves

good hair

pretty dress

fresh flowers

lively conversation

delicious food

all occurring at the same time

you bring the mix

of good and bad together

and use it to strengthen me.

In hindsight I can see

the value of endless winters

shattered dreams

crushing griefs

persistent heartaches

broken friendships

health challenges

and irretrievable opportunities

building and shaping me

much stronger

than one balmy day at the beach

can do.

And yet

you weave those beach days

together

with the grey cloud days

to make the loveliest tapestry:

thin golden threads

intertwined

with thick woolen threads

in a beautiful story

created for my good

for others’ benefit

and for your glory.
