How to Get Booked Twice as a Podcast Guest

I’ve been blessed to get booked twice as a podcast guest (more than once). It’s wonderful to be interviewed not only once, but twice (or more) by podcast hosts. To be a guest who is so valuable that podcast hosts want to have you back, here are my best tips for you.

How to Get Booked Twice as a Podcast Guest

  1. Be ultra-prepared.

Podcast interviewers LOVE when you arrive well-prepared. By covering little details like responding to emails in a timely fashion, arriving a bit early for the interview, and sharing exclusive stories on the interview, you’ll be a star interviewee who really stands out.

I also can’t underestimate the importance of listening to several of the podcast host’s previous episodes before your interview. The host will feel appreciated if you thoughtfully mention past topics and how they have helped you. Yes, this is a time investment, but you will have guaranteed returns. Be intentional about your research, and you’ll be rewarded.

  1. Be relentlessly helpful.

This is the best platform-building advice I have ever received. I got it from Tim Grahl, a book launch expert. I’ve applied this advice in all aspects of my writing and speaking ministry. When podcast hosts see you as a hugely generous person, they sense you have lots to offer to their audience, and they’ll keep coming back for more.

Be relentlessly helpful not only in your podcast interview, but to the interviewer. If you are a published author, ask them if they’d like a free copy of your book, and get it to them ASAP. Suggest that you could be interviewed for bonuses on their Patreon account. Use this tip I learned from Bryan Harris: If you look at what they have to offer, then creatively offer a solution for a gap in their offerings, they will be impressed and willing to work with you again and again.

  1. Be prepared to share.

The day the podcast interview goes live, be prepared to share it everywhere. Send the link to your email list and share it on all your social media outlets. Share it to your stories as well as your posts on Facebook and Instagram. Tag the podcast host in each of these places so they see your efforts to share the episode.

When a podcast host has social proof that you shared their podcast, they will know you’re devoted to spreading the word far and wide. And if they see a spike in their stats, they will unquestionably know it’s because you took the time to share the episode with a wider audience.

  1. Be assertive.

Did you have a great experience with a podcast host? Chances are, in a year or two, they may be willing to host you again. What can you offer them now that you didn’t offer last time? Maybe you have a new book or product to promote. Perhaps they have shifted their focus and you can bless them with a new vein of content. Go back and do your research again, then reach out to them, describing how your new idea can benefit their audience.

These tips have gotten me several return interviews, and I hope they help you book double or triple appearances on more podcasts.
