A Prayer for Integrity

In these last few weeks before the 2020 U.S. election, I’m writing prayers for biblical virtues for America. I’ll also include no-filter pictures of the changing leaves in my Missouri woods. May these Scripture-based prayers strengthen and encourage you.

A Prayer for Integrity

Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord.
Psalm 119:1 NLT

Father, we want the joy and peace that comes with the gift of integrity.
We know that the path of integrity is revealed in your Word.
Today we confess that we have strayed from that path and followed our own way instead.
Fill our hearts and minds with the truth of your Word. Guide us by your faithful instructions.
May each step we take along a path of integrity bring us greater joy.

May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.
Psalm 25:21 NLT

Father, we also want protection for our families, our culture, our leaders and our country.
This verse reminds us that we can be protected when we choose honesty and integrity.
Help us choose to do the right thing whether in secret or in public. Help our leaders do the same.
May we place our hope in you instead of any human authority, from the least to the greatest of us.
May our hearts and minds be clean and at peace because we choose to honor you with integrity.

I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.
Psalm 101:2 NLT

This verse tells us that integrity starts in our own homes.
We pray that each of us would choose integrity right where we live in this great country.
May we make this daily choice to choose what is noble and truthful, from the tiniest apartment to the White House.
We trust you to come to our help as we pursue a life of integrity.
Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the ultimate example of how to live with integrity.

To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity.
2 Samuel 22:26 NLT

Lord, we pray that you will show yourself to us as we follow you.
We pray that you would be glorified as we are faithful in our choices.
Let those in leadership know that when they show integrity, you show them integrity too.
Help our leaders seek your face in their decisions. Guide them to make the best possible choices.
Give them a desire to be faithful instead of unfaithful, and integrity-based instead of dishonest.

People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.
Proverbs 10:9 NLT

Father, we ask that you make our paths forward safe as we choose integrity.
We also ask that you would shed light on those who follow crooked paths.
May their dishonesty be exposed so corrections can be made before further damage occurs.
Help our entire nation choose a path of revival and faith, rather than the crooked way.
May we see a new wave of integrity sweeping over our nation by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
