I Want to Resemble You, Lord is a prayer for spiritual growth. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.

I Want to Resemble You, Lord

I want to resemble you, Lord

in all your loving ways

that stand firm in truth.

I want to resemble you

Father

in your loving care

inspiring creation

holy limits

consistent provision

protection from storms

and perfect balance

of grace and truth.

I want others to feel

comforted in my presence

like I am comforted in yours.

I want to resemble you

Jesus

in your meekness and gentleness

strength and commitment

pretense lacking

joyful living

barrier breaking

selfless listening

and ongoing self-sacrifice.

I want others to see

you in my words and actions

and be the light

you called me to be.

I want to resemble you

Holy Spirit

so insightful

wise

kind

encouraging

supportive

guiding

and weaving everything together

for the greatest good.

I want others to seek

my counsel and advocacy

because they trust me

like I trust you.

I want to resemble you, Lord

more and more

each passing day

less of me

and more of you.
