When You Need Guidance for Your Path

When you need guidance for your life path, where do you turn first? It can be hard to know where to look for direction. Yet the Bible helps us think about the path the Lord wants us to take.

Guidance for Your Path

I’ve needed guidance when making important choices in many stops along my life path. Whether it was which college to attend, when to quit a job, where to serve in my church, or when to set boundaries, I wanted to make a choice that pleased God. I turned to his word to find answers.

The Bible doesn’t have a glossary in the back where you can look up ultra-specific situations. It doesn’t have the name of your future mate, the address of the best workplace for you, or the right school for your children. I’ve wanted those crystal clear answers more times than I could count.

In his mysterious ways, God gives us room to make choices within his perfect plan for our lives. He wrote all our days in his book before we were born (Psalm 139), yet he allows us to exercise free will in many different situations. Even so, we must seek his guidance before making choices that significantly impact our life paths.

The broad principles in God’s Word help us make wise decisions in specific situations. By looking up the word “path” on biblegateway.com, you can meditate on verses that will help you make God-pleasing decisions. When you combine personal study of the word with prayer and counsel from other godly friends and mentors, you can have greater peace when you make your final choice.
