Lift Me Up, Lord

Lift Me Up, Lord is an unedited prayer-poem I wrote in just five minutes. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.

Today’s post is based on the prompt for Five Minute Friday. Today’s prompt is “Lift,” and here is my prayer/poem.

Lift Me Up, Lord

Lift me up, Lord

over my current struggles

so I can see them

from your wider

point of view.

Help me see

how the boundaries

only extend so far

how the surrounding expanse

is far and wide with possibility

how the horizon ahead

is bright with hope.

Lift me up, Lord

when I am too weary

to stand on my own

two feet

and I need your strength

to carry me forward.

Remind me that I can always

come to you for rest

and refreshment

and I was never designed

to struggle alone.

Lift me up, Lord

so people will see

your light in me

which can be obscured

when I drop my head low

due to frustration

with this world.

May the light you set

in me when I believed

give me the hope

encouragement

and strength I need

to lift others up

in service to you.

Today I choose

to be uplifted

by you.
