This adorable little book is such a mood-booster. I love the bright colors and creative illustrations by Kelly O’Dell Stanley. This fun book is full of quick, easy prayer prompts for all kinds of people in your life. It’s easy to fit inside your purse or bookbag so you can pray on the go. It makes a great gift book too. I highly recommend that you sign up for her monthly prayer calendars that will inspire you to pray daily. This is probably my favorite book in my July 2020 Christian book picks.

Seeking Life: Finding Your Purpose with the Holy Spirit

Brianna Holyfield reached out to me on Instagram and asked me to review her book. It’s a short, convenient study on the Holy Spirit and the fruits he bears through us as believers. The chapters are short and filled with Bible verses on each topic. There is room at the end of each chapter to write your own notes. It’s a simple Bible study for on-the-go women.

Thriving in Love and Money

Shaunti Feldhahn’s research has helped me learn so much about relating to my husband in more loving and productive ways. This new book, co-written by her husband, gives insight into the money conversations most married couples try to avoid. The research shows you how you compare to most other Americans and married couples – it will assure you that you aren’t alone in your assumptions and challenges. Best of all, it gives you insight into how men and women think differently, plus plenty of discussion points to have with your partner. I feel equipped to have some breakthrough money conversations with my husband, thanks to this book.

Healing Family Relationships

Family relationships are often complicated and difficult to navigate. This book offers a caring, compassionate plan for doing everything in your power to restore peace in your extended family. I enjoyed his explanation of the three parts of forgiveness, which is where he starts the book. He also discusses how spiritual warfare can be at play in families, and situations where you may need to establish healthy boundaries. You will learn how to increase peace with greater listening skills, accepting what is possible, praying for change, and showing compassion and mercy. A good primer for families who need help connecting with God’s plan of redemption.

Yes Sisters

We women need as much encouragement as we can get. Yes Sisters is a bright, hopeful book filled with stories of women who will affirm you and help you avoid the No’s in your life. I enjoy the short chapters interspersed with other women’s testimonies of God’s goodness. The author doesn’t avoid tough subjects like abuse, shame and heartache, but helps you choose encouragement and hope instead. She will help you develop qualities of the Proverbs 31 woman so you can attract more Yes Sisters in your own friendship circles. Through her stories of failure and triumph, you will be inspired to choose God’s best in your life.

Claim Your Crown

Do you know an older teen girl or a young woman who needs a boost of confidence? Claim Your Crown is a fun, inspirational read to help young ladies understand their inestimable worth as queens in God’s kingdom. It also encourages spiritual growth through kingdom language. Rather than following Disney princesses as examples, Tarah-Lynn points young women to spiritual heroes in the Bible. She outlines the godly characteristics that a queen or princess must have to reflect God’s glory. Her tone and backstory will be very appealing for teens and young women. It’s based on solid biblical principles that are presented in a way younger generations will appreciate.

The Way Home: God’s Invitation to New Beginnings

Ruth’s story is one of the most fascinating in the Bible to me. I enjoy Tessa Afshar’s biblical fiction, and it’s been exciting to look at her first Bible study. What I appreciate most is the detailed historical context she gives, and how she relates it to our current culture. The text is broken up into scannable portions, perfect for busy women. There are many application questions to help you relate to the Bible story. In the daily homework, there is a good balance between the number of verses to look up and the application questions (roughly five each per day). There is also a DVD teaching available for group study. This is my Bible study of choice for this summer, and I encourage you to check it out as well.
