How to Change Angry Thoughts in Your Marriage

How to Change Angry Thoughts in Your Marriage

When you have an angry interaction with your husband, do you ever stop to think about the thoughts running through your mind?

Thinking about your thoughts is called metacognition. This is a fancy term for examining our thoughts, which is the only way to begin changing them for the better.

By practicing metacognition, you follow the biblical directive to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5 NIV).

This year, my husband and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary. After two decades together, my thoughts follow a remarkably familiar path when we have an angry encounter.

Meditate on God's Word - 3 Easy Ways

Meditate on God’s Word: 3 Easy Ways

Christian meditation is simply hiding God’s Word in your heart and mind through concentrated thought and repetition.

It’s not just memorizing a Bible verse; it’s thinking about it over and over again, using it to replace negative thoughts with God’s truth. You can meditate in just a few minutes every day to gain greater peace and self-control.

For the past several years, I’ve chosen a single verse of Scripture as my theme verse for the year…

Do You Have a Heart for the Lost

Do You Have a Heart for the Lost?

Is your heart hurting for lost people?

This week, I started crying when viewing an Instagram account of someone I’m sure is lost. I had used the hashtag “meditation” on one of my posts, because I frequently write about the tried-and-true, biblical practice of Christian meditation. I know that the hashtag can attract New Age followers, so I don’t use it often, but I tried it out this week.

On each of my posts, I visit the people who like my post. The person with this account was a 20-something American man, who is young enough to be my son. He is fully immersed in the New Age movement. In many of his posts, he professed his faith and devotion to idols–even calling them idols himself…

When You Need to Remember You Are Beloved

When You Need to Remember You Are Beloved

Do you know that you are a dearly beloved child of God?

Today, you may hear the word “love” over and over again, but not feel deeply loved. I remember past Valentine’s Days when this was a big struggle for me. If you don’t receive gifts, hugs or kisses, acts of service, words of affirmation or quality conversation and attention from loved ones today, you may not feel very loved. I understand this well.

Before disappointment overtakes your heart, let these truths from God’s Word permeate it…

The Value of Scripture Writing

The Value of Scripture Writing

Do you know how Scripture writing can benefit your faith?

I started writing out Scripture last year and learned the benefits. Every morning, I read my One Year Bible. I kept a little notebook with my Bible where I wrote down one or two meaningful verses from each reading.

This simple exercise took only a few minutes per day, yet made a powerful difference…

Learn about the difference Scripture writing can make in your life on my guest post for Woman 2 Woman Ministries HERE.
