Relational Reset

I love Dr. Laurel Shaler’s down-to-earth advice in her book, Relational Reset, and I’ll be sharing tips for you in this episode.

The three questions we explore today cover these areas:

  1. Grounding technique: choose an object that will remind you of a positive person in your life.
  2. Miracle question: If you woke up to find the world exactly how you want it to be, and all your problems were solved, how would you know this change had taken place? What would be different?
  3. What you can do: What can YOU do to improve your relationships? List at least one thing that is under your control that you’re willing to change.

These questions can help you ponder your relationships as an adult child of divorce. Your answers can give you a sense of control over situations that may have seemed out of control in the past. As you ponder this before the holidays, you can get a handle on situations and have greater peace.
