As I write this, I’m waiting on the sunrise with Jesus. I hope this prayer/poem encourages you to wait on the sunrises with Jesus too.

Waiting on the Sunrise with Jesus
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
Psalm 113:3 NIV
In the quiet darkness
I wait with you
enjoying our fellowship
first thing in the morning.
Before the day begins
you meet me
in this still space
speaking to me
through your Word.
This is where newness
dawns in me
each day, light
breaking
on the horizon
with fresh hope.
The days I sit with you
waiting for the first light
I learn about your character
promises
people
and hope.
I hear your voice
in the pre-dawn darkness.
O Morning Star
shine your light
into my life
lighting up the whole landscape
shrouded in darkness
for too long.
O Giver of Life
draw near to me
when the darkness seems too close
and remind me
that the sun always rises
again.
O Light of the World
may the light of your dawn
heal me and make me whole
calling new life
to sprout
grow
flourish
and fruit
for your everlasting glory.
