Help Me Be Persistent, Lord is a prayer for discipline and commitment. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.

Today’s post is the twenty-fourth one in the #write28days challenge, in which I’m participating during the month of February 2021. Today’s prompt is “Persistent,” and here is my prayer/poem.

Help Me Be Persistent, Lord

Help me be persistent, Lord

when I feel like stopping

my Bible study habit.

So many temptations

cry out for my attention

but I want to put you first

day after day after day

to bear much fruit

in every season.

May I persist

in prioritizing my health

by eating right

exercising

taking rest

and remembering

to laugh.

Remind me daily

I am your temple

and as I persist

in caring for it now

I will be healthier

and stronger

for your glory

in days to come.

Help me be persistent

when investing the gifts

you have given me

not burying them

out of fear

but taking risks

to reap rewards

not only for myself

but for many others

and to honor you.

May I be persistent

with you at my side

in my hardest relationships:

working for peace

grieving my losses

forgiving seventy times seven

accepting the truth

and filling the gaps

with your abundant love

and the love of your people.

Finally, help me persist

in prayer

faithfully raising my requests

again and again

even when the

yes or no answers

do not appear

but I hear wait

for weeks

months

or years.

Remind me

that when I ask

seek

and knock

I am not

wearing you out

but drawing you close.

In those persistent prayers

may I trust you more and more

so I can look back someday

and trace the movement

of your Spirit.
