Enable or Disable

Enable or Disable is a prayer for discernment. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.

Today’s post is the twenty-sixth one in the #write28days challenge, in which I’m participating during the month of February 2021. It’s also the prompt for Five Minute Friday. and I wrote it in only five minutes. Today’s prompt is “Enable,” and here is my prayer/poem.

Enable or Disable

Father God,

Help me know whether

I need to enable

or disable

the good things

in my life.

So often the good

crowds out the best

and prevents me

from bearing the most

fruit for your glory.

But I struggle to choose

between what I need

to enable

and what to disable.

Like apps on my phone

that sometimes bless me

yet take up too much storage

and slow down its system,

help me disable the unnecessary

to make room for what is needed.

Help me prune my priorities

to those most important

in this very life season

one that will last only so long

and needs careful attention.

Remind me that if I disable

something good for a while

I can enable it again

when the timing is right.

I depend on your discernment

Holy Spirit.

I trust you will help me choose

with confidence

relying on you to direct

my deletions

and encourage

my enabling

of better choices

for your glory.
