Saturday Sips, February 2023

Saturday Sips February 2023 is a short recollection of what I’ve learned this month. I’m following a format known as Share Four Somethings, and I hope it inspires your own reflections on what you’ve learned this February.

Something Loved

I loved reconnecting with my junior high and high school teachers at a Galentine’s party. Such a blessing to live in my hometown where I can spend quality time with the ladies who shaped my writing career! We had a delicious lunch and enjoyed great conversation.

Something Read

I enjoyed reading this devotional, which I gave away to one of my email subscribers. I give away books twice a month only to my subscribers. Sign up HERE to be eligible for the giveaways!

I am also reading this book for Lent. It’s beautiful and inspirational. Check out my review HERE.

It’s not too late to join my Lenten online study on prayer, where I pull quotes from these books for short teachings every day now through April 9. No pre-reading is required! Learn more HERE.

Something Learned

I am learning how to expand my ministry and business through this new online school, Total Life Freedom. Check it out HERE if you are interested in breaking free from the 9-to-5 workweek.

Something Eaten

February was all about food! Here are some of my favorite memories.

When I get up early enough, I make German-style homemade coffeecake for breakfast – just so good.

Yay for the Kansas City Chiefs, who won the Super Bowl! I doctored this mini cookie cake from our supermarket in celebration of the game. My son makes the best queso with this version of Velveeta plus 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, fire-roasted Rotel, and a little milk to thin it. So addictive!

I was excited that we had an all-class fellowship at BSF on Valentine’s Day. It was a good reason to make butter cookies to share.

Last Friday, my daughter and I took a quick day trip to St. Louis. We feasted on amazing Italian food at Zia’s on the Hill and loved our cookies from the Missouri Baking Company right across the street. Foodie heaven!

I always make Cajun food on Mardi Gras, and this year’s jambalaya was great with the mini gnocchi we found at World Market in St. Louis.

Last night my daughter and I enjoyed Chinese food at Watami, one of the best local places for sushi. It was fun to enjoy this meal early before the restaurant gets packed on Friday nights. But it is fun to go there for the hibachi grill sometimes.
