I’m In the Middle with You

I’m In the Middle with You is an unedited prayer-poem I wrote in just five minutes. I hope this prayer-poem inspires you today.

Today’s post is based on the prompt for Five Minute Friday. Today’s prompt is “Middle,” and here is my prayer/poem.

I’m In the Middle with You

Jesus,

I’m in the middle with you

between your first arrival

as a baby

and your second coming

as the glorious King of kings.

Though I don’t know

how long this period will last

nor how long my life

will span in this time

you know all things

and walk beside me.

I’m in the middle with you

in my seasons of waiting

when I know I’m in too deep

to back out

but aching with pain

before the answers arrive.

Yet your constant presence

comforts me

in the shadowed unknown.

I’m in the middle with you

now in my fourth decade

assuming I’ll have four more

or if you will

perhaps five or six remain.

Looking back on all your faithfulness

in years of hurt and struggle

on one side of this mountain

then focusing on the brightly lit

horizon ahead

with hope stored in my heart

as you take my hand

and walk forward with me.
