Having Hope in Troubled Times

Hold Onto Hope in Troubled Times

Can you imagine the fear the disciples must have felt on the Saturday after Jesus died?

They were huddled together in a locked room. Their grief, shame and trauma were overwhelming. Anxiety pervaded the group.

Just two days before, they had enjoyed the Passover meal with their Lord. His powerful teachings were still in their minds.

But it seemed as if the Romans and Jewish leaders had won. It had all happened so quickly, they were swimming in denial. Would their lives be taken next?

Friend, you and I have been cast into uncertainty during this pandemic. We are now straddling the time between when it began and when it will someday end. Just like the disciples, our hope may be paper-thin.

I wrote a devotion for Woman 2 Woman Ministries to encourage you to cling to hope despite these troubled times. Keep reading HERE.

The Fear of Saying No

The Fear of Saying No

Climbing the steep hill at Six Flags, I shuddered with fear. All my friends wanted to ride the giant slide. Since I was in junior high at the time, all I wanted to do is fit in.

My friends heard the quaver in my voice. “Are you okay?” they kept asking. “Um, I don’t know,” I kept replying. I looked back at the throng of people behind us…

If you’ve ever been afraid to say No, I’ve got encouragement for you HERE at my post for Kingdom Edge Magazine.

The Fear of Saying No

Our God of Second Chances

Our God of Second Chances

So Jacob went over and kissed him. And when Isaac caught the smell of his clothes, he was finally convinced, and he blessed his son. He said, “Ah! The smell of my son is like the smell of the outdoors, which the Lord has blessed!

Genesis 27:27 NLT

This week, I read the account in Genesis 26:17-27:46 when Rebekah encouraged Jacob to steal Isaac’s blessing from Esau. I noticed how many opportunities they both had to turn around and stop sinning.
If you know the story of Jacob and Esau, this is the point when everything unraveled. Decades of strife and misery followed…
But this story is an amazing testimony about our God of second chances. Learn more by heading over HERE to read it at Woman 2 Woman Ministries.
