The Best Christian Books of 2025
I chose these books as my top picks because they had the most meaningful impact on my mind and heart. I hope my shares about them inspire you to read them yourself. I’m listing them in chronological order of when I read them last year. My top pick of all the books is at the end of this post, so please keep reading until the end!
Blessed Are the Spiraling
A wall is not an everyday inconvenience. It’s something very challenging that shakes your faith, such as a death, divorce, tragedy, or major situation change. When you hit a wall, your faith doesn’t work like it used to do. As my pastors have said, 85 percent of people either bounce off the wall, try to go around it, or stay stuck. But God invites us to go through it on a path of self-reflection, grief, and personal growth. If we go through that painful process, we can be stronger on the other side of the wall and better equipped to love God and serve others.
Levi Lusko hit his wall in the form of a midlife crisis. He was forced to slow down, accept his limits, and reconnect with God in new ways. He has faced huge trials, such as the death of his daughter, losses in his ministry, and the FBI confirming threats on his life.
This book is about the unique challenges and opportunities in midlife – read more about it on THIS POST.

Mind Over Explicit Matter
Mind Over Explicit Matter is an important book I agreed to review because 74 percent of men and 40 percent of women IN THE CHURCH admit to using p*rn on a regular basis, according to recent Barna research. It’s a huge problem that is guaranteed to be affecting someone you know, or perhaps yourself.
Though this is not my problem, I found this book to be highly educational. It has a practical, compassionate plan to help set addicts free from this pervasive problem. See the shocking yet true stats I pulled from the book HERE.
Death, Disease, Disaster, & Despicable Evil: Finding Peace in the Face of Tragedy
I read this book because Dr. Messina reached out directly to me and asked me to read and review it. I have to admit, it’s not an easy read at all. It directly takes on the problem of good vs. evil which has caused many debates for centuries. Yet I found it to be brutally refreshing in that it doesn’t sugarcoat the hard truths of faith.
Dr. Messina is no stranger to death, disease, disaster, and despicable evil. His father died a tragic death from suicide. In his training to become a Christian psychologist and counselor, he has been exposed to the worst sides of humanity. Also, even though he’s in his 40s like I am, he has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which is a slowly debilitating disease that has no cure. With all that suffering in his life, I was more than willing to listen to his stories.
Though Dr. Messina is a former pastor with a compassionate heart, he does not share any Christian platitudes in this book. That’s why I find it refreshing, because I’ve heard overly simplified words of “comfort” from well-meaning Christians my whole life. Those words never cut it for me. As I was exposed to the hard truths in this book, I had to come to terms with them in my own life.

Heal Your Stress from the Inside Out
I was thrilled to be the editor, cover designer, interior designer, and book launch manager for Heal Your Stress from the Inside Out, the first book from my friend Holly M. Andrews. We met when we were fellow students at Covenant College, and now God has brought us back together in this creative collaboration.
Holly’s book is highly informative with lots of research. However, she presents the detailed information in an easy-to-understand way. She gives insight into how our bodies and brains suffer from the effects of stress, and how healthy habits can reverse the damaging effects of stress.
Though I’ve been committed to a healthy lifestyle for years, I learned many new and helpful facts from Holly’s book. Her encouraging wisdom is helping me sleep better, order my day with greater intention, and make better eating choices. I’m thankful Holly writes from a faith-based perspective, so I can trust her advice even more. Learn life-changing tips from Holly in her excellent book.

God’s Got You
I’m in a transition period where I’m being forced to make changes that I didn’t want. Tracie’s words spoke right to the fears and doubts I’m facing, and also the hope I’m trying to kindle for the future. It’s just the book I needed with wisdom and practical help. I liked the prompt questions with room to write at the end of each chapter, which helped me get more personal application from the material. I’m grateful for Tracie’s hard-won honesty and vulnerability, which makes this book so meaningful to me.
Tracie is a 2025 VA client of mine. If you’re looking for VA help, please contact me HERE.
Looking Up: A Birder’s Guide to Hope Through Grief
Looking Up is a wonderfully written book for those who are bird lovers, and also those who are grieving. The metaphors are so rich and beautiful. I enjoyed the audio version because it included some bird songs, and hearing the author read the book in her voice was ideal. It made me cry while also uplifting my spirit. This is excellent writing that I treasured, and I’m looking forward to reading her future books.
Upskill or Die: Thriving in the AI Revolution
I was blessed to be the book launch manager for Upskill or Die. Misty and Peter have written an informative and practical book that you truly need to read right now so you have a greater understanding of what’s happening in the world of AI. You will learn how it is affecting you already, what it will mean for your job in the coming weeks and months, and how you can harness its power rather than feeling panicked. This guide gives you a playbook for moving forward with confidence rather than fear.
Misty has been a good friend of mine for years. I’m glad her book inspired me to make a pivot in my career and thinking.
It Will Be God: Live in the Jaw-Dropping Realities of God’s Goodness
Though I don’t often read charismatic-leaning books, It Will Be God captivated my attention. It’s a powerful motivator for your faith when you are struggling. I enjoyed her personal stories as well as the application points for my life. Her phrase “It will be God, or it will be God” is what I now tell myself when I’m feeling doubtful. It’s a good book to encourage people who are struggling and teach them more about the power of the Holy Spirit.
Flow: Keeping Your Heart Alive When Life Hurts
Flow has life-changing power. I know this because Joy Scott chose me to be the editor, book designer, and book launch manager for her book.
I’ve had the privilege of reading through it several times, and it has already changed my thinking about forgiveness and resentment. Flow is an insightful look at how to apply Psalm 139 to your life, especially if you are recovering from trauma or deep hurts.
Joy writes with compassion and honesty, sharing transparently from her own experiences of an abusive marriage and the death of one of her children. I highly recommend this book as a resource for trauma recovery or a companion to your counseling journey.
Singing Through Fire
Singing Through Fire is a memoir of love, devotion, and faith despite terrible circumstances.
Lara was just starting her career as a high-power attorney. Then she became debilitated by a sudden, mysterious illness.
Though she was bedridden, a kind man reconnected with her and their love story began – even though he was on his second round of cancer. Their love story unfolded while they were both sick.
Only a year after marriage, she had to grieve losing Matt, her beloved husband, who was a brilliant scientist, missionary, and youth pastor.
What I loved about this memoir is how Lara preserved Matt’s powerful testimony in the pages. I also appreciate how she questions the hardest truths about faith while constantly looking for signs of God speaking to her in her grief and loss.
Ultimately, I appreciated her enthusiasm for life, as evident in her creative and engaging writing. It’s the best memoir I read this year.
Single Minded
Since Bob’s first book made a huge impression on me, I was eager to read his new book on singleness.
I’m single, not by choice after divorce, and quite frankly, it’s a state I despise.
In Single Minded, I found the affirmation and validation I haven’t found in other books, particularly about how hard singleness can be. Yet I also see hope and a new perspective in it, and it’s giving me much to consider.
What I respect most in this book is Bob’s unflinching commitment to orthodox truth in the Bible. It’s challenging to live your life based on this truth, but it’s essential if we want to become mature Christians.
I appreciate that Bob made this book available for free in podcast form HERE.
It’s exceptionally well-written and even profound in parts, which is why I chose it as one of my favorites.
It would make an excellent discussion book for singles’ groups in a church setting, and it’s also ideal for individual study.
Holy Plot Twists
Holy Plot Twists has such powerful testimonies about the dangers of dabbling in occult-like activities, intense spiritual warfare, what life is like without God’s presence, and the amazing power of grace and forgiveness. At the end, there are several pages of thought-provoking questions to help you in your spiritual growth journey.
I learned something totally new about how our fingerprints are formed in Amanda’s book, and this fact strengthened my faith at a critical time this year. I highly recommend this encouraging book. If you love it, you’ll also love Amanda’s podcast, on which I was privileged to be a guest. Listen to the episode HERE.
Growing in Spiritual Formation

This resource from Discipled Church teaches you about the steps of spiritual formation using lessons from the life of Jacob. Due to this unique application, I chose this book to be on my list. It’s a great study for individuals or groups that will help people grow spiritually.
I’m blessed to have learned about the seven steps of spiritual formation at my church. This teaching has made a huge impact on my spiritual development, especially in the most challenging times I have faced. I highly recommend that every Christian learns about this to deepen their faith.
You can learn about the book and the online course HERE.
The Way of the Wildflower
The Way of the Wildflower is most certainly the most beautiful book I have read in 2025. I have a whole library of her books, and this one is probably my favorite because of the lessons and applications speaking to me right now. It features her trademark floral illustrations and lovely writing with wonderful transparency and relatability. You’ll be encouraged by the scientific and spiritual lessons from common wildflowers across the United States. It’s an escape into God’s gorgeous creation – you will love it! See more photos from the book on THIS POST.
Look Again
Look Again is not an easy read, but it’s a very important one from Tim Tebow. It talks about the worth of every human being, especially the most marginalized ones, due to God’s magnificent design and purpose for us.
This book will open your eyes to tough truths, help you confront lies you believe about yourself and others, and introduce you to what God wants you to believe about yourself and your royal role in his kingdom.
I highly respect everything Tim and Demi Leigh do to support the weak and abused. I appreciated the personal stories in this book that helped me see Tim and Demi Leigh as regular people just trying to make a difference in this world.
This book would make a great gift for a deep thinker and avid reader in your life.
Waiting Isn’t a Waste
Waiting Isn’t a Waste was a book I didn’t want to read, but I’m glad I did. It was like taking bad-tasting medicine that really helped. Pastor Mark Vroegop honestly looks at waiting and why it is essential, not optional, for Christian living. He speaks from his own experience about how hard waiting can be, yet how helpful it is for our spiritual growth. Using many biblical examples, he talks about how waiting is actually normal for believers and one of God’s most common tools to help us grow more Christ-like. I believe this book should be used in church groups to help break our culture’s allergic reactions to waiting and start to accept it as a necessary shaping tool for faith.
Never Alone
I was blessed to be the endorser and book launch manager for my friend Sue’s excellent book. Here is my endorsement:
Loneliness has been my unwanted companion as a lifelong victim of abuse. In this book, Sue helps lift the burden of loneliness with her creative storytelling, wry humor, and intriguing insights into biblical narratives. I’m grateful that through this book, I found affirmation for my loneliness, practical ways to combat it, and even reasons to laugh in spite of it.
I love the tips for combating loneliness and the recipes in the back of this book. It’s rare to find a funny read that also teaches you serious truths. That’s why I highly recommend Never Alone to you.
Loved to Life
God used this book to draw me back to Himself. I’m well familiar with Ann’s other books, and I love her poetic style. This book includes her signature word pictures and brilliant metaphors. It also includes lovely woodcut illustrations. When this book came out early in 2025, I couldn’t bear to read it in the depths of the dark night of the soul I was facing. However, late in 2025, I saw a Kindle deal on Loved to Life and felt God’s nudging to purchase and read it.
The part of this book that drew me back to God and healed my relationship with him is her vivid, scientific descriptions of the severe brutality Jesus endured on the cross – all because of love for me. I will never forget how this book helped me heal, and I’m grateful for the way God used Ann’s words to minister to my heart.
How Should Christians Think About Israel?
It can be confusing for Christians to know how to think properly about Israel. Should we see today’s nation of Israel as the same Israelites in the Bible? Also, what does it matter to us?
This short book lays out a convincing point of view based on Scripture. I gained new insights into familiar passages that helped me see how to pray and why this is important.
Some of the middle content leans scholarly as he lays out biblical explanations. However, I appreciated this deep look into why Israel is still important to God, and therefore needs to be important for all Jesus-followers today.
What I most appreciated about this book was the insights into how Israel relates to the end times as described in Revelation. I also appreciated the last chapter, which exhorts us to pray faithfully for Israel to experience unique blessings now.
This book is a much-needed read to help understand current issues. I am grateful I am more equipped and educated, thanks to this book.
Uncommon Courage
Uncommon Courage is an excellent read from a lawyer and teacher. She has very well-developed thoughts based on her extensive research, plus her stellar career. I learned some new things that literally had my jaw dropping open. She also affirmed other things about the Constitution that I already knew, yet want to be more passionate about now. After reading this book, I feel more equipped to engage with the culture and not back down when evil forces push against me.
Stop in the Name of God
Though I have regularly observed the Sabbath for decades, I preordered this book days after Charlie Kirk’s assassination, because I wanted to hear the last words he wrote for the world. Reading it this December, I have not been disappointed in the least. In fact, the first night I read it, I burst into tears because the brilliance of his writing is so luminous and riveting, I grieved the fact that we will have no new writings from him. I’m learning new things from his insightful research and thoughtful combination of biblical truths and classic wisdom. Stop, In the Name of God is a phenomenal must-read for Christians in the wake of Charlie’s death, and it has something new to teach all of us about God’s best plans for our lives.
Understanding Your Attachment Style
I have read other books on attachment theory, yet this one is the most comprehensive. I appreciated the insights into the five types: Avoidant, Pleaser, Vacillator, Controller, and Victim. Through 15 years of therapy and lots of practice setting boundaries, I have been able to recover from most of my Pleaser and Victim hangups. Yet this book helped me address some hidden areas due to its thorough coverage and practical applications. I highly recommend this book so you can gain insight into your relationships and make healthy changes. Get your copy HERE.
To Know Him
To Know Him is a great devotional based on Dr. Cloud’s memoir, Why I Believe, which I included in my Best Christian Books of 2024. It distills the main lessons into short readings with encouraging prayers. It follows the narrative of the book, yet pulls out truths to ponder and apply to your own life in the prayers. I like the honest, positive tone of this book in light of the fact that it talks about the challenges of sharing your faith with others. I like this repackaging, and I think it would make a great gift as well.
Top Pick of All the Books – Make Sense of Your Story
I read Make Sense of Your Story in May, and even then, I knew it would be my top pick for the year. Like the author, I spent many years in counseling, devoured hundreds of books on healing, and attended conferences to enhance my self-awareness. Yet, until I encountered his profound truths in this book, I hadn’t begun healing at the deepest level. This book has changed my life for the better, and I feel like a new person because of it. I highly recommend you get this book and listen to his excellent podcast.
