Practical Advent is a daily blog series I’m doing throughout Advent this year. Join me on my blog each day for practical faith tips.
Practical Advent, Day 25
Since childhood, I’ve observed Advent each year. It’s been a wonderful way to build my faith and increase my anticipation of Christmas for all the right reasons. I highly encourage you to observe Advent as well, because it can help you be more intentional in this busy season.
In this Practical Advent blog series, I’ll have the same post format to give you about 10-15 minutes of practical tips for loving God, loving others, and loving yourself during the Advent season.
Praise
Each day of Practical Advent, I’ll share one of my favorite songs to listen to during Advent. Take a moment to praise God while you listen.
Here’s one I love: You’re Here by Francesca Battistelli.
Ponder
Every day of Practical Advent, I’ll share a quote or idea from an Advent book in my collection for you to ponder, along with my thoughts and a few reflection questions.
Today’s quote is from Simply Christmas by my good friend Tama Fortner.
Here’s the quote and prayer I’ve chosen to share today:

Reflection questions:
- When did you last hold a newborn baby? What feelings did that experience stir in you?
- What sweet, holy moment will you savor today?
Pour In

Today, light a candle as a reminder that God is with you. Do it in a quiet moment between just you and him. You can do it during a meal, while getting ready, or before going to bed. Sit in the stillness and let God’s love pour over you for a few moments.
Pour Out
Pray that God helps you be an ambassador of peace today. Whether it’s while driving, shopping, attending church, or spending time with your family and friends, trust that the Holy Spirit will give you the fruit of peace to share with others. When challenged, simply pray, “God, help me,” and he’ll give you the peace that passes all understanding to share, even in the most difficult moments. I’ve done that before, and it really works!
As you put on your peace ambassador robe, meditate on these verses and consider when you will put them in action today:
Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Ps. 141:3 NIV
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Rom. 12:18 NIV
Just for Fun

Since I love all things Snoopy, this is a good playlist to listen to in the background of your tasks today:
Thank you for joining me for this 25-day Advent series! I pray you have a wonderful Christmas with friends and family. Don’t forget to attend church and pray for those who are unable to do so, including our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Blessings and God’s peace to you!
