Five Minute Friday: Inspire

Writing for five unedited minutes for Five Minute Friday on the prompt, “Inspire.”

I could write for five hours on all the ways I was inspired at She Speaks 2017. I’ll challenge myself to list a few ways in only five minutes.

Whitney Capps’ message inspired me to lead a small group Bible study in my church this September. She told us we must minister in our local churches to build ministry. Yesterday I called the woman willing to host in her home, arranged details, and made plans to send invitations soon. Thank you Whitney for the inspiration! I can’t wait to study Suzie Eller’s Come With Me: Discovering the Beauty of Following Where He Leads with group members.

Lynn Cowell’s session inspired me to keep moving forward. She was rejected 19 times before receiving a book contract. Even though my book proposal is now in the hands of an agent (so exciting!), I am trusting in God’s timing and will keep persevering if the answer is “no.”

Jennifer Dukes Lee’s session encouraged me to not give up, even though my platform feels small and doesn’t yet meet publisher expectations. She reminded us that the church started with a small platform and changed the whole world. Her session inspired me most of all the sessions.

Conversations with other bloggers inspired me to try a few new things. One of my friends has had great success on Pinterest, so I’m going to begin pinning more often. Another blogger friend has had success in leading online Bible studies, so I’m going to start another one in my closed Facebook group this fall (you’re welcome to join!).

I left She Speaks 2017 with a heart, mind, and notebook full of inspirations. I hope I served as an inspiration to others while I was there too. Can’t wait to return in the future!
