These 6 books are helping me stay sane this Christmas – well, I’m not literally going “crazy,” but you know what I mean about all the to-do’s at the end of the year! I love to take a quiet time in the afternoon and delve into a good book, and these six picks are really helping me choose peace instead of the Christmas crazy.
Here are my quick reviews of each one, so you can spend more time reading the actual books if you choose! Remember, you can always get the digital download to read them quickly and benefit from them right away.
The holiday season is upon us, and overwhelm can come along with the special joys. If you are feeling the holiday overwhelm today, you can find peace and encouragement through Christian meditation.
Though Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, it’s not always easy to find comfort and joy if your heart is weighed down in sorrow, unless you ask God for help.
This year, I’m grieving a living death. The sorrow rises up from a deep spring, unbidden. It sometimes pours out in the very moment I’m rejoicing over God’s blessings. As I look at Christmas lights, enjoy hot tea and cookies, or listen to Christmas music, my sorrow suddenly threatens my peace.
In this Christmas season, not everyone is saying “It’s a wonderful life.”
Maybe that’s you, friend. I have hope for you today if you are dealing with depression at Christmas.
Prayer for Peaceful Priorities
Prince of Peace,
I confess to you
I often put my health last
on my priority list.
Remind me I am
your dwelling place
and my body
is your temple.
