Peace in my Heart: Day 3 OBS

Christmas Peace for Busy Moms day 3 Online Bible Study is here. We’re talking about peaceful expectations today.  Today’s lesson is in video format. Enjoy!

I can't stop longing for a peaceful Christmas.

Christmas Peace in My Expectations

If you’re anything like me, your expectations get way out of whack during busy December, and others place enormous expectations on you too. We’ll sort that out today and find peace instead of stress. Please refer to Day 3 of Christmas Peace for Busy Moms as we discuss peace in our expectations.

So, here’s the funny photo I referred to in the video, from Christmas 2009:

xmas-09-1

I showed this to my kids last night, and here are their comments.  Drake, my oldest, said, “Yep, that’s me, the good one as usual.” (Mmhmm.)  Lauren couldn’t believe how squirmy and how small she was, since she is “the good one” now.  Ethan, Mr. Attitude in the photo, laughed and said, “There was no way I was sitting on his lap that day.”

But here’s a photo that exceeded my expectations of total cuteness.

Friends, I’m praying God will help you adjust any off-the-charts expectations this year.  Christmas is a season of incredibly high expectations, as you know.  I’m lowering my own expectations and looking for ways to help other moms see Christmas will be just fine, maybe even better, if expectations are lower.  I believe we can create peace for others by telling them how we let go and thrived.

Feel free to post your stories of photo fails in the comments! 🙂

Questions for you:

Which area do you struggle with the most in expectations:  perfection, disillusion, or denial?

How do you need to adjust your expectations this Christmas?

Our theme verse for this week:

A heart at peace gives life to the body. Proverbs 14:30 NIV

My next post in this series will feature an interview with Micah Maddox, author of Anchored In.  Be sure to return on Day 4 to hear her thoughts on seeking peace this Christmas.
