grassDay 24, Week 4:  Humility (Grass Seed)

Today’s scripture passage:

All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.  The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them.  Surely the people are grass.  The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:-6-8 NIV

Part of humility is having the right perspective – not too low, not too high.  Our time on earth is brief, and we must choose well to make the best of the time we have.  God calls us grass in this passage, because in his great universe, our lives are so transient.  Yet, God’s Word is everlasting and our lives belong to him.  I take comfort in these verses, knowing that my fleeting life counts for God, who is so much greater than I am.  His Word gives me the right perspective and reminds me to be humble.

Today’s reflection:

In light of this passage, how can you make your life significant for God’s kingdom?
