Why I Write
I have kept a journal since I was 11 years old. At the age of 16 I attended a James Taylor concert and heard a calling from God to be a writer. I put my writing dreams on hold while I raised my babies, but I never stopped filling up journal after journal. In 2010 I ventured into blogging and began writing out childhood memories.
Writing memoir has been an important part of my healing process, and has inspired me to minister to women who struggle with the same hangups I have. Hangups like these pop up often in my writing, and I hope to encourage you by sharing how God has helped me through difficulties such as these:
- self-destructive habits
- emotional abuse
- toxic relationships
- marriage trials
- financial troubles
I completed my memoir Heart in a Drawer: My Story as a Child of Divorce in July 2016.
