A Prayer for Peaceful Celebration

Peaceful Celebration

Prince of Peace,

Today is a day of celebration:

confetti and cake

streamers and sparkles

in our contemporary times.

A day of feasting and fanfare

songs and embracing

dancing and leaping with joy.

Our Savior has come!

All our planning and preparation

in busy December

points toward this day.

We celebrate you as the One

who makes peace possible.

A day of praise

Glory to God in the highest

A day of peace

And peace to his people on earth

A day of joy

Good news that will bring great joy to all the people

A day of hope

In his name the nations will put their hope

A day of worship

Come, let us worship and bow down.

On this Christmas Day

we pause amid our messes

and look with wonder

on this newborn babe:

the light of the world

the king of all kings

the promised Messiah

seated at the Father’s right hand

preparing a place for us

in the glorious heavens.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Thanks Nicki! We had a wonderful weekend, even though sickness kept us at home, we recovered and gained peace from the quiet. Blessings to you now and in 2017 as well!

  • I thank God for the pace He offers us as we seek him Sarah. I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a blessed holiday season.

Hi Sarah-I enjoyed your book! I finished up today. Something I’ve particularly enjoyed in the past two days has been contemplating what name I would give the Lord. Wow. I had NEVER thought of that. I enjoyed thinking on that and then coming up with a name. Not only is He the God who sees, but He is also the God who helps me to see. The God who gives me sight. So thankful for that…and your book!

    • Sarah

Hi Amy! So glad to know you finished the book. I deeply appreciate the way you promoted it on your blog. I love your idea of coming up with new names for God. After a peaceful Christmas weekend, my name for him today is “My Christmas Redeemer” since it was my first conflict-free holiday in over three decades! Blessings to you dear friend!
