A Prayer for Peaceful Celebration

Merry Christmas! Here’s a prayer for Christmas Day. Listen to the prayer HERE.

A Prayer for Peaceful Celebration

Prince of Peace,

Today is a day of celebration:

confetti and cake

streamers and sparkles

in our contemporary times.

A day of feasting and fanfare

songs and embracing

dancing and leaping with joy.

Our Savior has come!

All our planning and preparation

in busy December

points toward this day.

We celebrate you as the One

who makes peace possible.

A day of praise

Glory to God in the highest

A day of peace

And peace to his people on earth

A day of joy

Good news that will bring great joy to all the people

A day of hope

In his name the nations will put their hope

A day of worship

Come, let us worship and bow down.

On this Christmas Day

we pause amid our messes

and look with wonder

on this newborn babe:

the light of the world

the king of all kings

the promised Messiah

seated at the Father’s right hand

preparing a place for us

in the glorious heavens.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Also, I’m SO excited that I will be featured on the (in)courage blog on December 23 with a special Christmas-themed post. I hope you’ll take a minute or two to read it on that day, and let me know what you think!
